9/26-9/28
After a long and uneventful flight and a pleasant and restful night at the airport hotel we went to pick up our rental car where total chaos reigned.
They didn't have our reserved car so we were upgraded to a better one and off we went to our agriturismo near Siena.
We stopped at an Autogrill for lunch (an autostrada favorite) and this one had an EATALY insteaad of the usual Autogrill. That required some serious wandering around and checking out all the goodies then a good sandwich for lunch and my first gelato of the trip.
We arrived at our lodging around 4. This is a working farm with lots of animals. The owner breeds Italian horses that are especially bred for jumping and has an additional bunch of horses that stable here or are just rejects that she has rescued.

There are also 8 dogs of various breeds and ages, a donkey, a 20 year old cow that has been here since the age of 2 months, a goat and many ducks and geese.

In addition to the animals, the farm also grows grapes and olives and makes and sells wine and olive oil. Despite all this, it's a really quiet atmosphere. Our apartment is very roomy and comfortable other than the fact that there are steps into the bathroom, the kitchen and the bedroom. Only one or 2 steps in each place but a potential deathtrap for us old folks.

Dinner was at a tiny local osteria in the middle of nowhere. We had a delicious meal of tagliatelle with fresh porcinis for me and Dick had a local specialty of "pici", a thick spaghetti with "cacio and pepe", (cheese, in this case pecorino) and black pepper. Sounds boring but it's like the best possible variation of macaroni and cheese. We also had 1/2 liter of a nice house Chianti for 5 Euros.

| As usual I forgot the photo until too late. Dick had finished the cacio e pepe but here's my tagliatelle with porcinis |
And back to our apartment for the night.
