Change of Scenery

10/8

We drove north into the mountains of the Garfangnano region of Tuscany. This area is for the outdoors lovers with lots of hiking trails and wilderness areas. We were sticking to the highway and our goal was a famous bridge built in the 12th century in the town of Borgo di Mozzano. It's regarded as an engineering marvel of the time.

The drive was beautiful and though the day began a bit drizzly, the sky cleared making it a perfect day. After visiting the bridge and walking across it, we continued north with the plan to loop west to Carrara and return by a different route. The GPS somehow led us astray when we had to detour around a road that was blocked for a market. Long story short....we ended up returning the same route. There was a market in Altopascio so we stopped to meander through it then went to the gelateria that I had come to love and bought budino (basically a pudding) to take home for dessert after our meal of pasta with home cooked sauce. All in all, an OK day.
